"Rhapsody in Gershwin" -- a new, original production from the Springfield Ballet Company -- will be performed March 11-13 at the Legacy Theatre.
The production will feature a combination of song and dance. Live jazz will be mixed with some of the area’s finest vocalists, and dancers will take the stage with creative choreography.
Songs will include classics like “Someone To Watch Over Me,” “Fascinating Rhythm” and “An American In Paris.”
Choreography for the show was put together by Anna Bussing, Susan Collier, Grace Nanavati, Julie Ratz, Gina DeCroix Russell and Gary Shull. Vocals will be performed by Greg Donathan, Lori Ann McCabe, Joshua Ratz, Mary Kate Smith and Cynda Wrightsman. with Damien Kaplan as musical director.
The play, sponsored by Carrollton Bank, will run for four shows – 8 p.m. on Friday, March 11; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 12; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13. Advance tickets cost $20 online or $25 the day of the show.
The Legacy Theatre is located at 101 E. Lawrence Ave. in Springfield.
