To fund the construction of a new 9.0 MGD Water Treatment Plant, the City of Jacksonville will apply for financial support under Illinois’ Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program.

The new water plant will replace the one that was damaged by the June 2011 flood and will serve all water customers in Jacksonville.

The project is projected to cost a total of $31 million. If approved, the CDBG-DR grant award would cover about $1 million of the funding needed to complete the project. Public comments are encouraged and any resident wishing to voice their opinion about the project can do so through July 1, 2015.

Those public comments can be made through email to City Clerk Skip Bradshaw at cityclerk@jacksonvilleil.com. Residents may also make comments in person or through the mail at Municipal Building, 200 West Douglas Avenue, Jacksonville, IL 62650, at the attention of: Mayor Andy Ezard.

This notice has been posted at many locations, including Jacksonville Municipal Building, Morgan County Courthouse, Jacksonville United States Post Office and the City of Jacksonville’s website at jacksonvilleil.com.
