The Pittsfield City Council met July 19 to discuss plans for hosting the Little League State Tournament.

July 19, 2016

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the City Council room at 215 North Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Cindy Prentice, and Aldermen Kevin Ketchum, Ed Knight, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Bill Scheiwe, Robert Wilson, Kevin Wombles and Robert Wood.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Lennon moved to approve the minutes of the last regular Council meeting.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart,

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the Treasurer’s Monthly Report for the month of June 2016.

Alderman Wombles seconded the motion.

Alderman Lennon moved to approve Ordinance No. 1565, An Ordinance Abating the Tax Heretofore Levied for the Year 2016 to Pay the Debt Service on $270,000 General Obligation Bonds (Sewerage System Alternate Revenue Source), Series 1999, of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on its first reading.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve Ordinance 1566, An Ordinance Amending Zoning Code Section I-1 Light Industrial District of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on its first reading.

Alderman Wombles moved to suspend the rules and have the second reading of Ordinance No. 1566, An Ordinance Amending Zoning Code Section I-1 Light Industrial District of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Alderman Wood moved to approve Ordinance No. 1566 (described above) on its second reading, by title only.

Alderman Wood moved to approve Pay Estimate No. 6 to Leander Construction Inc. in the amount of $83,143.21.

Alderman Knight moved to approve the letter of support to the Pike County Clerk and Pike County Board for approval of the expansion of landfill for Hickory Ridge Landfill Inc.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve the bid from Gunterman Construction in Pleasant Hill in the amount of $33,545.00 for handicap ramps on the corner of Adams and Monroe Streets and Adams and Madison Streets.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve the Notice of Material Letting for 520 tons.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Mayor Hayden announced the Little League State Tournament begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Little League Park in Pittsfield. First game is at 10:00 a.m. and there are eight teams participating.

The update on Higbee is the equipment has been moved in. The 30 day period from the E.P.A. letter was last week so Mayor Hayden will call E.P.A. to see what the next move is. There is a party interested in purchasing the property.

The plans for the Irving building are unknown at this time.

Alderman Scheiwe set a Gas Committee meeting for Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. to discuss the contract for natural gas purchases.

Alderman Knight reported that Pike County Night was rained out in Hannibal tonight.

The culvert on North Madison Street needs a guardrail but the 6’ centers would go through the culvert. Alternatives should be researched.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.
