Godfrey approves solar panels for village, county buildings

The Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee met July 5 to approve solar panels for the Village Hall and Madison County Substation.

Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee Meeting Tuesday July 5, 2016

Nate Kenner, Chairman called the meeting of the Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee of the Village of Godfrey to order at 10:00 a.m., July 5, 2016, at the Godfrey Village Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, Illinois.

ROLL CALL: PRESENT Present: Nate Keener, Carolyn Scott, Susan Murray, Don Dieckmann, Pam Whisler. Absent: Vannette McConahey, Lee Sudlow, Advisory: Virginia Woulfe-Beile.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Carolyn Scott moved for the approval of the minute from June 7, 2016; Seconded by Don Dieckmann. Poll of Committee: Ayes-4, Nays-0, Absent-2. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: None

STRAIGHT UP SOLAR COMMUNITY PRICING PROGRAM UPDATE AND NEXT STEPS: Chairman Kenner reported that the Solarize Godfrey Programs are not well attended.

Next Session is Wednesday, July 13, at 6:00 pm, Godfrey Village Hall.

Chairman Keener presented the proposal for solar systems for the Village Hall and Madison County Substation. The proposals will be presented the Village Board for consideration. A loan with Madison County Development Agency is available for zero percent until July 31, 2016.

The committee discussed other ways to publicize meetings i.e., faith groups (UCM), partner organizations,

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN (STARTING WITH GREENSPACE): Chairman Keener asked the Committee review the Introduction for the Plan that he would provide.

SHRED IT DAY: Clerk Whisler reported that Shred It completed the disposal of documents on Tuesday June 21, 2016 for a reduce price of $300.

Van McConahey moved to adjourn and Susan Murray seconded. Chairman Keener adjourned the meeting at 11:00 am
