Godfrey energy committee reviews lighting proposal

The village of Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee met Aug. 1 to review a lighting proposal.

Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee Meeting Tuesday August 1, 2016

Nate Keener, Chairman called the meeting of the Godfrey Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Committee of the Village of Godfrey to order at 10:00 a.m., July 5, 2016, at the Godfrey Village Hall, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey, Illinois.

ROLL CALL: PRESENT Present: Nate Keener, Carolyn Scott, Susan Murray, Don Dieckmann, Pam Whisler, Lee Sudlow, Vannette McConahey Absent: Advisory: Virginia Woulfe-Beile.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Lee Sudlow moved for the approval of the minute from July 5, 2016; Seconded by Carolyn Scott. Poll of Committee: Ayes-7, Nays-0, Absent-0. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: None

Chairman Keener reported that the Greenhouse Gas Inventory is being review by SIUE professor. The report will be presented to the Facility Committee and the Committee has been invited to the presentation.

STRAIGHT UP SOLAR COMMUNITY PRICING PROGRAM UPDATE AND NEXT STEPS: Chairman Keener reported that the Solarize Godfrey Program has been extended to September 30, 2016.

Next Session is Wednesday, August 3, at 12:00 pm, Godfrey Village Hall. August 20, at 6:00 p.m. Godfrey Village Hall and September 8 at 6:00 p.m. Lewis and Clark Community College with a tour of the solar system on campus.

Chairman Keener reported that the Village Board has tabled the considerations for solar systems for the Village Hall and Madison County Substation.

LIGHTING PROPOSAL Chairman Keener reported that A & D Electrical Supply at of Highland, Illinois has reported that the DECO Grant is now available to communities for lighting upgrades. The report has been update with material costs and will be presented to the Finance Committee this evening for consideration.

The cost of fixtures is: 111 fixtures at a total cost of $22,683 with estimated DECO incentives of $12,855. Total proposed cost of $9.828.

SUSTAINABILITY PLAN (New Intro Content):

Chairman Keener asked the Committee to review the proposed Introduction to the Sustainability Plan for final consideration at the next meeting.

SMART GRID PRESENTATION – NATE KEENER Chairman Keener will make a 15 minute presentation regarding Smart Grid at the next meeting.
