Carthage Elementary School District 317 Board of Education met January 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Board President Brent Ufkes.

Roll call: Brandon Gooding/present; Trish Markley/present; Amy Graham/present; Brent Ufkes/present; Ryan Blue/present; Robert Menn/present; Sherry Huston/present.

There were no additional agenda items.

There were no visitors present wishing to speak on stated agenda items.

Nineteen students were recognized for “exceeding” on the PARCC test.

The Girls 7th & 8th grade basketball teams were recognized for 3rd and 1st place state titles.

Administrative Reports – Mrs. Hardy reviewed her report.

Mrs. Pepple reviewed her report. She reported that WIU will be sending two block students again for second semester and they will be placed in the first grade classrooms.

Mr. Butcher was absent due to ball games at the middle school.

It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mr. Blue to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Mr. Gooding/yes; Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/yes. Motion carried 7-0.

The one cent sales tax was discussed.

Student drop off/pick up at the primary school was discussed as well as the city council’s involvement.

It was moved by Mrs. Huston and seconded by Mr. Gooding to enter into executive session at 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel and collective bargaining. Roll call: Mr. Gooding/yes; Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/yes. Motion carried 7-0.

It was moved by Mrs. Markley and seconded by Mr. Ufkes to exit executive session at 8:38 p.m. Roll call: Mr. Gooding/yes; Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/yes. Motion carried 7-0.

It was moved by Mr. Menn and seconded by Mrs. Huston to adjourn the meeting at 8:39 p.m. Roll call: Mr. Gooding/yes; Mrs. Markley/yes; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes; Mr. Blue/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Huston/yes. Motion carried 7-0.
