Auburn Public Library Board met March 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Present:

Diana Coffman, Vice President

Dave Hallerberg, Treasurer

Lisa Whisler, Secretary

Shirley Deheve

Amy Steele

Monica Garrett

Lisa Talley

Staff Present:

Calla Patton, Library Director

Louise Dudley, Aide

Board Members Absent:

Jeff Davis and Amy Kaufmann

Staff Members Absent:

Quinn Stitt

Visitors: No Visitors in attendance.

Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m. Monica Garrett made a motion to call the meeting to order and Amy Steele seconded the motion. The motion carried.

I. Minutes:

Shirley Deheve made a motion to approve the minutes. Dave Hallerberg seconded. Motion carried.

II. Consent Agenda:

Lisa Whisler made a motion to accept the consent agenda and Monica Garrett seconded. Motion carried.

III. Treasure’s Report:

Dave Hallerberg presented the financial report for February 2017. Lisa Talley made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Amy Steele seconded. The motion carried.

IV: Director’s Report:

Facility:

-lights installed

Need door put on hinge in the conference room

-Mayor informed that the city will paint the pillars in the front as per the budget.

-library will paint the back pillars

-overhead projector need works/ an estimate is pending

Programs:

-4/28 book sale from 2-5 pm

-4/29 book sale from 8-noon

-5/4 Star Wars night (18 yrs or older)

-Harry Potter trivia tba

-tshirts for sale $15 or $17 for extended sizes.

-Food for fines had lots of donations. Food pantry sent a thank you.

Staff:-

Other:

-Remind Mayor of upcoming available board seats (Talley, Whisler, Kaufmann-temporary). Candidates need to submit letter of interest to Mayor by 4/26/17.

-file and submit economic interest statement by 5/1 (board)

-VFW Legion leaving storage room in library. It will be as study/ tutor room.

V: Committee Report:

- No report at this time

VI. Public Comment/Citizens to be heard:

There were no citizens in attendance for public comment represented at this meeting.

VII. Old Business:

-still accepting book sale donations

-need plastic bags, volunteers and tables

-Zinio Database -need money

Lisa Whisler made a motion to move money from books to magazines$675.00 from books to magazines in July 2017 to June 2017 budget. Monica Garrett seconded. Motion carried.

-District Discussion:

-putting on agenda

-call emailed attorney timeline

-choose method of action for library to move forward as a district

VIII. New Business:

-budget proposal presented by Dave Hallerberg

Monica Garret made a motion to approve the budget proposal as presented. Lisa Talley seconded. The motion carried.

-summer reading:

kick off party on square 6/3

Live performance by JD Wilson

-Harry Potter anniversary week/trivia night for all ages/dress up contest

-kite flying day in the 2nd week of summer reading at Meadow Brook Baptist.

-Need volunteers.

-shelves:

Calla is requesting 3 units from library store to increase space for dvd collection, young adult, adult fiction and large print. Estimated about 10,000 dollars

-Amy Steele made a to motion to buy shelves and using undesignated monies not to exceed $10,000.00. Monica Garrett seconded. The motion carried.

Lisa Talley made a motion to close the session with a second from Monica Garrett at 7:59 p.m.

X. Announcements:

The next meeting will be 4/18/2017 at 7 pm.

XI. Adjournment:

Lisa Whisler made a motion to close the session with a second from Dave Hallerberg. The motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
