Illini West High School District 307 Board of Education met May 2.

1) Call to order by Board President. The Special Meeting of the Illini West High School District 307 of Hancock County, IL was called to order by Tom Holtsclaw, Board President at 7:10 pm.
2) Roll call:

3) Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance
4) Motion by Sutton, second by Shannon Pence to approve the agenda with the addition of 7b Executive Session IL CS 120/2(c) (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2 (c) (1). Roll Call: Shannon Pence/yes; Huston/yes; Beth Pence/yes; Holtsclaw/yes; Sutton/yes; Anders/yes. Motion carried.
5) Public Comment-none
6) Motion by Anders, second by Sutton to appoint new school board member Betsy Wujek. Roll Call: Shannon Pence/yes; Huston/yes; Beth Pence/yes; Holtsclaw/yes; Sutton/yes; Anders/yes. Motion carried. Oath of Office administered by Tom Holtsclaw to: Betsy Wujek for four year term.
7) Motion by Beth Pence, second by Shannon Pence to leave regular session for the purpose of entering into Executive Session at 7:16 p.m. to discuss:
a. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)
b. The purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired. 5ILCS 120/2 (c) (5).

Motion by Huston, second by Sutton to leave executive session at 8:13 p.m. and return to regular session. Roll Call: Anders/yes; Sutton/yes; Holtsclaw/yes; Shannon Pence/yes; Beth Pence/yes; Wujek/abstain; Huston/yes. Motion carried.
8) Action
a. Motion by Shannon Pence, second by Sutton to allow the Board President/Superintendent to bid at the May 11, 2017 auction on the Vass Tract #1 up to a maximum bid of $13,500 per acre, as the acquisition of this property is for school purposes and is in the best interests of the School District for future growth and educational facilities purposes. Roll Call: Holtsclaw/no; Anders/yes; Beth Pence/no; Wujek/abstain; Huston/yes; Sutton/yes; Shannon Pence/yes. Motion carried.
