Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

1.0 Call to Order by Mr. Siegfried, School Board President

The board meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Michael Siegfried.

2.0 Roll Call

Present: Mrs. Kyle, Mrs. Little, Mrs. Poe, Mr. Siegfried, Mrs. Snyder, Mrs. Stevenson. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Also Present: Mr. Young, Mr. Ayer, Mrs. Betsy Martens, Mrs. Miller.

4.0 Approval of Minutes

4. 01 Approve Regular Meeting Minutes for June 2017 Mrs. Stevenson made the motion to approve the regular meeting minutes for June 2017 with a second by Mrs. Snyder. Ayes-6, Nays-0. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

4. 02 Approve Closed Session Meeting Minutes for June 2017 Mrs. Stevenson made the motion to approve the closed session meeting minutes for June 2017 with a second by Mrs. Kyle. Ayes-6, Nays-0. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

5.0 Financials

5. 01 Pay Bills for June 2017

Mrs. Little made the motion to pay the bills for June 2017 with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

5. 02 Approve Financial and Treasurer Report for June 2017 Mrs. Little made the motion to approve the financial and treasurer report for June 2017 with a second by Mrs. Poe. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

This year N-C spent $2,332,364 in the education fund compared to $2,238,649 spent in the education fund last year. In the operation and maintenance fund, N-C spent $247,532 this year compared to last year the district had spent $449,696. The district spent $321,700 in the transportation fund compared to $251,372 last year. The district spent $2,901,596 this year compared to $3,086,717 last year at this time in those three funds for a difference of $185,121 less this year compared to last year.

The 30th of June completed 100% of the 2017 fiscal year. The district expended 92.1% of the education budget, 40.0% of the operations and maintenance budget, and 122.9% of the transportation budget.

Fund balances as of June 30, 2017: Education: $528,507, Operation and Maintenance: $344,612, Transportation: $190,540, and Working Cash: $146,196. The four Major Fund Balances: $1,209,855. Total Fund Balance for all funds: $2,126,967.

Fund balances as of June 30, 2016: Education: $273,009, Building: $298,510, Transportation: $248,925, and Working Cash: $116,873. The four Major Fund Balances: $937,337. Total Fund Balance for all funds: $1,729,015.

The district has $272,518 more this year compare to last year in the four major funds. The district has $397,952 more this year compared to last year in total fund balance.

6.0 Recognition of the Members of the Audience

6.01 Public Comment There was no public comment.

7.0 Superintendent’s Report

7.01 Consider Replacing the Baseball Field Dugouts Mrs. Little approved the replacement of the baseball field dugouts with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. This will be a joint project with the Nauvoo Colusa Sports Boosters and as an Eagle Scout project of Caleb Sinele. Mr. Sinele will present the plans for his Eagle Scout project at the August board meeting. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

7.02 Consider Information of Online Registration for the 2017-18 School Year Mrs. Betsy Martens, school secretary, provided information about the new online registration. She has been working closely with Lumen to get everything lined up. There are several issues that are still being worked out. Parents will also have the opportunity to pay registration fees and lunch money online. Registration will be held August 3rd and 4th for those who do not have internet access. Computers and staff will be available to assist them. Mrs. Martens has sent out several emails to parents to keep them informed. Mr. Siegfried asked that she also send out a School Messenger call.

7.03 Two Exhaust Fans in the Gymnasium Need Replaced at $2500 a Piece Mr. Young reported that two exhaust fans in the gymnasium are in need of replacement. These will cost approximately $2,500 each to replace. He will have more information and exact figures at the August meeting.

7.04 Other

Closed Session to Discuss the Employment, Compensation, and Performance of Specific Employees Pursuant 5 ILCS 120/2(1)

Mrs. Stevenson made the motion to enter into Closed Session at 6:25 p.m. to discuss the employment, compensation, and performance of specific employees pursuant 5 ILCS 120/2(1) with a second by Mrs. Little. Ayes-6, Nays-0. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

Return to Open Session

Mrs. Little made the motion to return to Open Session at 7:00 p.m. with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Ayes-6, Nays-0. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

8.0 Action Items

8.01 Consider Hiring a Head Junior High School Girls Basketball Coach Mrs. Little made the motion to hire Courtney Rude as the Head Junior High Girls Basketball Coach with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

8.02 Consider the Resignation of the Second Grade Teacher Mrs. Poe made the motion to accept the resignation of Melissa Bolton as the 2nd grade teacher with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

8.03 Consider the Resignation of the Elementary Music Teacher Mrs. Snyder made the motion to accept the resignation of Jessica Knicl as the music teacher with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

8.04 Consider a Salary Increase for the Building and Grounds Supervisor for the Fiscal Year 2018 Mrs. Little made the motion to approve a 2.5% salary increase for the Building and Grounds Supervisor for the fiscal year 2018 with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

8.05 Consider a Salary Increase for the Elementary Principal for the Fiscal Year 2018 Mrs. Little made the motion to approve a 2.5% salary increase for the Elementary Principal for the fiscal year 2018 with a second by Mrs. Stevenson. Mrs. Kyle-Yes, Mrs. Little-Yes, Mrs. Poe-Yes, Mr. Siegfried-Yes, Mrs. Snyder-Yes, Mrs. Stevenson-Yes. Absent: Mr. Schmitz. Motion carried.

8.06 Consider a Salary Increase for the District Secretary for the Fiscal Year 2018 Mrs. Little made the motion to approve a 2.5% salary increase for the District Secretary for the fiscal year 2018 with a second by Mrs. Stevenson.
