It’s in the books for the Centralia Regional Library District, a grant of $10,000, that is.
Rep. John Cavaletto (R-Salem) announced the grant winner as part of the 2018 Project Next Generation.
“I am pleased to have one of the libraries in my district receive this grant,” Cavaletto said in a press release.
Through the grant money, the library district will be able to link technology with educational needs, the release said. One of the services rendered through the project is technology-supported student tutoring to aid children ages 10 through 18, the release said.
Project Next Generation (PNG) was set up to provide support for at-risk students, according to the office of the Illinois Secretary of State.
The PNG is an initiative that seeks to blend educational needs with technology and was spearheaded by Jesse White, Illinois secretary of state and state librarian, the release said.
The library district's main library is in Centralia with branches in Sandoval, Odin, Irvington and Hoffman.
