City of Dallas City Council met December 27.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on December 27, 2017, at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Lila Gittings, Esther Newberry, and Greg Olson. Harold Northup Jr. was absent.

Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson and Chris Classen.

A motion was made by Gittings, and 2nd by Newberry to accept the minutes of the December 13, 2017, meeting. Gittings, Newberry, and Olson Aye. Northup Absent.

Chris Classen reported that the roof has been replaced and the soffits repaired on the pump house south of the intersection of West Fourth Street and Sycamore Street. He discussed the bid specifications for the upcoming sewer project regarding the crossing of water mains.

Anne Thompson asked if the person that replaced the roof and repaired the soffits on the pump house was insured. The council informed her that the person did not have insurance, but he did sign an Independent Contractor Agreement. She asked if the city police officer was answering calls to other towns. The council council informed her that the only time he goes to another town is when Hancock County or Henderson County request him to. She also asked why there were a couple of possible police officers that had turned down the position here. The council does not know why they turned down the position.

It was reported that water shut offs were done this week.

An Illinois state flag has been purchased for the city hall. The city employee will put it up as soon as he can.

The 2018 Motor Fuel Tax Letting will be held at the city clerk's office on January 4, 2018, at 11 a.m.

The Illinois Gaming Commission has contacted the city to see if there were any objections to allowing Ike's Tavern to have gaming machines. The council has no problems with this. The gaming commission will also contact the police chief to get his opinion.

Discussed contacting Ideal Ready Mix Company and asking them if they would have any objections to allowing the city to go ahead and put the city's tractor and mower inside the building that the city is purchasing from them. The city clerk will contact Ideal.

Discussed replacing the trash cans around town.

Discussed what is going to be done with the money that is taken in from the issuance of the stickers for non-highway vehicles. It was decided to put the money in the General Fund for now.

Mayor Six read “Thank You's” for the city's Christmas donations.

A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. Gittings, Newberry, and Olson Aye. Northup Absent.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
