State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) streaked to an easy win over Jonas Petty in Tuesday’s Republican primary showdown in the 100th House District.
With all precincts reporting, Davidsmeyer bagged nearly three of every four votes cast, finishing the night with 9,021 votes and 74.05 percent to Petty’s 2,999 votes and 24.95 percent.
Despite his tough night, Petty, a Pittsfield businessman, said his campaign focused on all the things he thinks are most critical to the people of his district.

“I talked about education and welfare reform,” Petty told the West Central Reporter. “The biggest issue we face is how do we get people back to work.”
Petty, who has never held elected office, said he doesn’t know where he will go from here politically, or even if he plans another run at some point and time.
In the meantime, Petty said he would be willing to work with Davidsmeyer to improve the community and all the things the two agree on.
The 100th House District includes all or parts of Calhoun, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Morgan, Pike, Sangamon and Scott counties.
