Analysis: Beardstown pays $5.81 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Beardstown Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.3 percent of the $98,984 the Beardstown Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.81 for every $1 from pension members, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Beardstown contributed $84,453 to the fund, which saw a $15,684 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $14,531, or 14.7 percent, in 2016.
