City of Dallas Center City Council met April 11.

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on April 11, 2018, at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Lila Gittings, Esther Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson.
Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Tammy Kaminski, John Stimpson, Shasta Heidbreder, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Harms, Doug Erickson, Gary Smith, Chris Classen, and Eric Icenogle.
A motion was made by Gittings, and 2nd by Newberry to accept the minutes of the March 28, 2018, meeting. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.

Anne Thompson discussed possibly changing the starting time of the council meetings. The council decided that they wanted to leave the starting time at 5 p.m.
Shasta Heidbreder appeared on behalf of the Dallas City PTO. They are holding there annual Penny Carnival on April 20, 2018, and she asked the council to consider making a donation to help them offset their costs of this fundraiser. A motion was made by Gittings, and 2nd by Newberry to donate $100 to the Dallas City PTO. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.
Mr. and Mrs. Craig Harms discussed the Bow Shooting area at the Recreation Park. Since the park is owned by the Park District, the city has no control over this.
Doug Erickson discussed the boat docks and the sewer project. He is going to meet with Commissioner Northup next week to go over what was found out about the boat docks. He also discussed the proposal from Benton & Associates to prepare the Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance (CMOM) Plan that is required for the city's NPDES Permit. Benton & Associates will prepare the CMOM Plan for $5,800.
A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to sign an agreement with Benton & Associates to have them prepare the CMOM Plan for the city's NPDES Permit for $5,800. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.
Tammy Kaminski discussed a culvert on West Fourth Street that appears to be plugged up.
Discussed new trash containers. This will be discussed more at the next meeting.
Police Chief Gary Smith reported that Skylar Bruenger has began ride-a-long training and will begin patrolling on his own when he is comfortable working by himself. The police pickup has been serviced, and flyers have been passed out for the Prescription Drug Turn In on April 28.
There will be a Registration Day for golf carts and ATV's on May 12, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the city garage (old bus barn).
Chief Smith discussed bids for storm sirens. This will be discussed more at the next meeting.
The John Shoemate Memorial Fishing Tournament is going to be held June 16, 2018, in Dallas City. A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Newberry to donate $300 to the John Shoemate Memorial
Fishing Tournament. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.
The Illini West High School's Git R Done/SADD Club is having a community service day on April 13 where students will do odd jobs and projects in the community for a free will donation. The rain date is April 26. A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Northup to hire the Illini West High School's Git R Done/SADD Club to do work for the city for $250. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.
