Passavant Hospital issued the following announcement on May 4.
Passavant Area Hospital’s Employee of the Month is Amanda Demien, a phlebotomist in the Laboratory department. She has been a Passavant employee seven years.
A grateful co-worker nominated Amanda for the honor: “Amanda always greets patients and employees with a smile no matter the circumstances. She is always a pleasure to work with. She has a way with the patients that they are always happy to see her, which is rare considering that she is there to poke them! Amanda is so skilled at her job that patients always thank her after she has stuck them. She coordinates with other the care techs and RNs, so we can cluster our care in an attempt to maximize patient rest by only waking them one time. She is an amazing employee!”
In her role as a phlebotomist, Amanda collects blood samples from Emergency Department patients, outpatients and patients on the medical floors. She also assists with secretarial tasks.
Amanda and her husband, John, are the parents of three children, Victoria, Ali and Bailey.
The Employee of the Month at Passavant receives eight hours off with pay, an Employee of the Month plaque, a close parking space for one month, gift cards for the Cafeteria and Gift Shop, a movie gift card, pen and pencil set, picnic blanket, flashlight/tool kit, Mason jar cup, umbrella, small cooler, lunch sack, drawstring tote, water bottle, notepad, flashlight key ring, coffee mug, and cup.
