Macomb Community Unit School District 185 issued the following announcement on May 11.
As you are aware there have been lab-confirmed cases of mumps in some students at Western Illinois University.
The McDonough County Health Department (MCHD) and the Macomb School District have been notified that a person in your child’s school may have contracted a case of mumps.
MCHD and the school are actively investigating and monitoring the situation.
To learn more about the symptoms of the disease, how it is transmitted and how to prevent infection, we have posted information on the district website and are sending an email.
