Report: Beardstown spent $7,871 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Beardstown Community Unified School District 15 is down 11 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Cass County school district spent $8,852 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $7,871 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1479 to 1546.

Beardstown's spending in 2016-17 was 39 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
