City of Dallas City Counci met April 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on April 25, 2018, at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Lila Gittings, Esther Newberry, and Greg Olson. Harold Northup Jr. was absent.

Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson and Chris Classen.

A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Olson to accept the minutes of the April 11, 2018, meeting. Gittings, Newberry, and Olson AYE. Northup ABSENT.

Anne Thompson asked about the property on East Fifth Street that was destroyed by a fire a few months ago. There is debris being blown around by the wind. It is the council's understanding that the city attorney and police chief are working on this. She also asked about the storm sirens.

Chris Classen reported that the City of Carthage recently purchased some new trash containers from Wausau Tile Inc. for $264/each plus shipping. He got the information from Carthage and gave it to the council. Mayor Six will go to Carthage and look at them. If they appear to be something that the city is interested in, he will then contact the company to see if they would give us the same price.

Mr. Classen informed the council that a pump in a lift station needs to be repaired and that there is another pump at the old sewer plant that needs to be pulled and checked out.

The owner of TA Mowing has informed the city that he can't afford the liability insurance to do the cemetery mowing, and therefore, will not be doing the mowing this year. Commissioner Newberry has contacted Shawn Lain, who also bid on the cemetery mowing this year, and he is willing to do the mowing this year for the same price, $500 per mowing, that TA Mowing was going to do it for. Mr. Lain does have insurance.

Members of the Illini West High School's Git R Done/SADD Club painted most of the fire hydrants in town. The city council is very pleased with the job that they did.

Max Faul has done the electrical work at the old police station so that the garage door opener and the light inside the building both work now. A representative from Ameren Illinois recently came and looked at the boat dock area with Max. The representative is requiring a 200 amp service be installed at the boat docks. A different representative is going to come next week and look at it to see if something different could be done.

Discussed putting the boat docks in. It was decided to hold off putting them in due to the river level rising. Also reported that all but one of the old boat docks has been picked up. The buyer of the one that has not been picked up is planning on getting it as soon as possible.

Discussed a culvert along Osage Street that appears to be plugged.

Discussed storm sirens. Anne Thompson discussed forming a committee to try to raise money for this purpose.

Chris Classen has checked with Bergman Farm Supply about a 77' X 12' single axle utility trailer to be used for hauling the mower. The price would be $1395. Mayor Six will check at some other places to see what their price for a similar trailer would be. This will be discussed more at the next meeting.

Doug Erickson has informed the city that he is still waiting for the EPA to get the loan document approval to him for the sewer project.

A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. Gittings, Newberry, and Olson AYE. Northup ABSENT.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
