Beardstown Park District Board met April 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The April meeting of the Beardstown Park District board of commissioners was held on April 25 at the Schewe Community Center. Becky Jones called to order and roll was taken. Commissioners present

included Becky Jones, Larry Kight and Bob Schaefer. Also in attendance were Park Director Jason Brockschmidt, Secretary-Treasurer Greta Unland and Attorney T.J. Wessel.

The minutes of the April meeting were approved on a motion by Mr. Schaefer a second by Mr. Kight.

The treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Mr. Kight and a second by Mr. Schaefer.

The claims list was approved on a motion by Mr. Kight and a second by Mr. Schaefer.

Mr. Brockschmidt then presented the directors report. He spoke about the summer programs. The summer program flier has been publicized. Summer programs will run through June 4-June 29 with T-ball on July 4th. The summer staff has been finalized. We received a grant from IAPD for PowerPlay fitness program.

Mr. Brockschmidt also reported that all parks are fully opened and water is on everywhere. He is hoping to get the tennis court replacement done in May.

Pool update: The park district received 1st part of the grant. The board approved a transfer of funds in the amount of $35,000 to the pool fund on a roll call vote following a motion by Mr. Kight and a second by Mr. Schaefer. The breakdown of the transfer was $5,000 from Corporate Fund, $5,000 from Recreation Fund, $2,000 from Roadway Fund, $4,000 from Historical Fund, $8,000 from Social Security Fund, $5,000 from Liability Fund, $5,000 from Workmans Comp. Fund and $1,000 from Unemployment Fund. The board went over and set all the fees and hours for the summer of 2018 Sudbrink Waterpark. McDonald’s is sponsoring a walk with Mayor Harris on May 19 at 9am followed by a tour of the new pool. Mr. Brockschmidt informed the board that all pool staff has been finalized as well as the deck furniture and umbrellas have been delivered. Tentatively opening day for the Sudbrink Waterpark will be May 26 with a Grand opening and unveiling of the recognition wall tentatively set for the 4th of July. Mr. Brockschmidt asked the board for approval for a pay request from Contegra in the amount of $24,204.60, which the board approved pending lien waivers on a motion by Mr. Schaefer and a second by Mr. Kight.

The meeting adjourned at 1:07 p.m. on a motion by Mr. Kight and a second by Mr. Schaefer.
