City of Dallas Center City Council met June 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on June 13, 2018, at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Lila Gittings, Esther Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson.

Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Chris Classen, Gary Smith, and Mariah Wallace.

A motion was made by Gittings, and 2nd by Newberry to accept the minutes of the May 30, 2018, meeting. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Newberry to pay bills. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

Chris Classen discussed repairing the water line at 480 East Second Street where the house recently burned. The water line was damaged by the contractor while tearing down the house and cleaning up the property. Temporary repairs have been made, but parts will have to be ordered.

Police Chief Gary Smith reported on going to Sunbeam Corner as a guest and speaking to the children.

Discussed changing the city's phone service provider from Frontier Communications to Mediacom. Prices will be discussed at a later date.

The city attorney has filed an ordinance violation against the property owners at 70 East Fifth Street and will file one against the property owner at 57 East Fourth Street.

Mayor Six reported on a meeting that he attended in Pittsfield, IL, regarding obtaining financial aid for doing the boat dock repairs.

Discussed the Dallas City Celebration parade and getting extra police help for it.

Discussed trash containers. A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to purchase up to six new trash containers from Wausau Tile Inc. for approximately $264 each. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

Commissioner Northup discussed putting another culvert along the west side of Cedar Street by the city hall. A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to buy a culvert and put it in along the west side of Cedar Street by city hall so that there is not a ditch along Cedar Street from West First Street to the alley. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Olson to have the city attorney draw up a cannabis ordinance. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Northup to approve, in tentative form, Ordinance #643, the Ordinance for Appropriations for the May 1, 2018, to April 30, 2019, fiscal year. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

A public hearing on the above mentioned appropriations ordinance will be held on July 11, 2018, at 5 p.m. at the city hall.

Discussed meeting time and place. A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Northup to continue to have the city council meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 5 p.m. at the city hall for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Newberry to adjourn the meeting. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson Aye.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
