PIKE COUNTY: Illinois 106 bridge load limit at Florence changed

Dot

Pike County issued the following announcement on July 20.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that as a result of a recent load rating evaluation, the Bureau of Bridges and Structures has changed load limits for the Illinois 106 bridge over the Illinois River at Florence.

Effective immediately, the new limits are 18 tons for single-unit vehicles and 20 tons for combination vehicles. Vehicles over these limits are to use Interstate 72 via U.S. 54 and Illinois 100 to cross the river.

IDOT currently is formulating repair plans to be able to remove the load limit posting, which is expected to remain until spring 2019.
