Macomb Community Unit School District 185 Board met July 12.

Here is the agenda provided by the Board:

Board Vice President Scott Torrance called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. in Team Room B of the Administrative Service Center. Roll was taken with the following members present: Duncan, Gray, Adams, Torrance, Thompson, and La Prad. Board President Myers was absent. Mr. Ed Fulkerson, MJSHS Assistant Principal, Mr. Chuck Milem, MHS Principal, and parent of student 1819:1 were also present.

Dr. Twomey reviewed in detail the procedure to be followed for the hearing.

At 1:30 p.m., member Adams moved, and member La Prad seconded, to hold a closed meeting for the purpose of discussing a student discipline case, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). Members voting “yes”: Duncan, Gray, Adams, Torrance, Thompson, and La Prad

The Board returned to open session at 1:40 p.m.

Member Thompson moved, and member Adams seconded, that student 1819:1 be found to have violated school rules by violation of the Student Behavior Policy 7:190. Members voting “yes”: Duncan, Gray, Adams, Torrance, Thompson, and La Prad. Members voting “no”: none. Motion carried.

At 1:43 p.m., Member Adams moved, and member Gray seconded, to return to closed session for the purpose of discussing a student discipline case, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). Members voting “yes”: Duncan, Gray, Adams, Torrance, Thompson, and La Prad. Members voting “no”: none. Motion carried.

The Board returned to open session at 1:55 p.m. Member Thompson moved, and member Duncan seconded, to approve the administration’s recommendation, with Board modifications, regarding student 1819:1. Members voting “yes”: Duncan, Gray, Adam, Torrance, Thompson, and La Prad. Members voting “no”: none. Motion carried.

At 1:57 p.m., member Gray moved, and member Duncan seconded, to adjourn. Motion carried by voice vote.
