CITY OF JACKSONVILLE: Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, Nov. 5 - 11

City of Jacksonville issued the following announcement on Nov. 6.

The City’s animal shelter, Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) has maintained status as a no-kill shelter since 2014. With a full-time staff of 52 veterinarians, technicians, trainers, and administrative personnel, ACPS is able to offer a multitude of services including vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and more.

In fiscal year 2017-18, ACPS responded to 21,000 service calls, performed 5,390 surgeries, and took in 11,077 animals. Currently, the animal shelter is operating over capacity, housing 528 animals.

Citizens are encouraged to learn more about the adoption, foster and volunteer programs on the City’s website or by visiting the shelter at 2020 Forest St.

Adoptions are $20 (city license fee included) for large dogs, cats and kittens; puppies and small dogs are $40 through November.
