City of Barry issued the following announcement on Jan. 12.
The time is upon us. The NWS extended the Winter Storm Warning time by bringing the start time to 3 pm today. Southern portions of Pike County should begin seeing precip first and that could be as early as 2 pm. The precip will begin as sleet and transition into snow. The prediction amounts have also raised to 9” averages over most of Pike County but also have isolated chances of seeing upwards of 14”. Most of the accumulating snow fall should end sometime around midnight Sunday Morning however we may still see some snow throughout the day on Sunday but should not create any additional accumulation. We will have the potential for refreezing Sunday night into Monday morning as the temps look to drop down into the teens. Friday evening commute looks to be impacted along with the possibility of Monday morning commute having an impact also.
