City of Dallas City Council met Dec. 26.

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on December 26, 2018, at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Lila Gittings, Esther Newberry, Harold Northup Jr., and Greg Olson.
Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson and Kenny Foster.
A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Gittings to accept the minutes of the December 12, 2018, meeting. Gittings, Newberry, Northup, and Olson AYE.
Commissioner Newberry reported that water shut offs will be done this week.
The city clerk reported that he had been contacted by the Illinois State Board of Elections last week and was informed that since the City of Dallas City is a commission form of government, there will not need to be a primary election in February 2019.
Discussed the carport that was recently purchased. There was a misunderstanding between the mayor and commissioners as to where it is going to be located. Some of the commissioners thought the plan was to locate it south of the water salesman. The mayor and the other commissioners thought the plan was to locate it next to the east side of the city hall/police building.
A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to place the carport south of the water salesman. Northup and Olson AYE. Gittings, Newberry, and Six NAY.
A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Gittings to place the carport next to the east side of the city hall/police building, as long as it fits, and if it does not fit there, then place it south of the water salesman. Gittings, Newberry, and Six AYE. Northup and Olson NAY.
Commissioner Newberry left the meeting at 5:15 p.m.
Discussed a tree along West Third Street that needs to be removed. The council is still waiting for an estimate. The council gave Mayor Six permission to go ahead and have the tree removed if the estimate is acceptable.
Discussed the training that Chris Dausch needs to complete in order to be able to work as a police officer for the city.
A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. Gittings, Northup, and Olson AYE. Newberry ABSENT.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
