City of Pittsfield City Council met Feb. 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the City Council room at 215 North Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Cindy Prentice, and Aldermen Kevin Ketchum, Ed Knight, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Robert Wilson, Kevin Wombles and Robert Wood.

Absent: Alderman Bill Scheiwe.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of the last regular Council meeting.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Ritchart, Wombles, Wood (6)

Nay:None (0)

Present:Wilson (1)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve Ordinance No. 1623, An Ordinance Amending Zoning Code Section I-1 Light Industrial District of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on its first reading.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Wilson, Wombles, Wood (7)

Nay:None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wombles moved to suspend the rules and have the second reading of Ordinance No. 1623 (described above).

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Nay:None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve Ordinance No. 1623 (described above) on its second reading by title only.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the Municipal Estimate of Maintenance Costs and Resolution

No. 2019-1, Resolution for Maintenance of Streets and Highways by Municipality Under the Illinois Highway Code.

Alderman Knight seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to allocate $1,000.00 to the trout program, which may be used for either the spring or fall session.

Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve the Pour Liquor License request for Ionson Inc.

Alderman Ritchart seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to add cell towers as a Special Use in non-residential districts and direct City Attorney Hollahan to draft an ordinance for final approval.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the Clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Mayor Hayden has appointed Alderman Knight as chairman of the Gas Committee and Alderman Wilson will replace Alderman Scheiwe on the board of the Interstate Municipal Gas Agency. There will be a tire collection at the Griggsville Fair Grounds March 18 and 19 with a collection point at the City of Pittsfield Public Works building.

Gas & Water Foreman Bruce McKee stated a Water/Wastewater Committee meeting needs to be scheduled to discuss the request of Greg Bores.

Alderman Ketchum moved to go into closed session at 6:28 p.m. to discuss personnel.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Wood moved to go back into open session at 6:44 p.m.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to direct Chief of Police Kenny Yelliott and Deputy Chief of Police Michael Starman to perform background checks on the three individuals interviewed for possible hire in the Police Department, with intent to hire a new police officer and send the new hire to police academy in April.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Knight moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:47 p.m.
