The price of local government in 2016: Village of New Salem

The Village of New Salem budget was $23,365 for its 2016 fiscal year, or $497 per household.

That's a decrease of 4.5 percent from 2015, when the village spent $24,458, or $520 per household.

New Salem has 47 households and a population of 137.

Since 2001, the Village of New Salem budget has grown by 13.9 percent, from $20,520. The village population has fallen 6.8 percent over the same period, from 147.
