The price of local government in 2016: Village of Rockbridge

The Village of Rockbridge budget was $202,108 for its 2016 fiscal year, or $2,350 per household.

That's an increase of 81.4 percent from 2015, when the village spent $111,389, or $1,295 per household.

Rockbridge has 86 households and a population of 169.

Since 2001, the Village of Rockbridge budget has grown by 137.2 percent, from $85,200. The village population has fallen 32.4 percent over the same period, from 250.

Salaries accounted for 8.7 percent of village spending in 2016. Rockbridge property taxpayers paid $17,641 for nine part-time employees, or an average of $1,960 each, before their health care benefits and taxpayer-funded pension contributions.
