Former state university employee Schroll paid in $22K to pension fund, could collect $341K in retirement

Former state university employee Timothy Schroll, who retired in August 2016, saved $21,967 toward a pension over 7 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Schroll would collect as much as $340,990, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes West Central Reporter.

The projection assumes Schroll received $7,167 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Schroll will have already received $22,152 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
