City of Bushnell City Council met May 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Roll Call

Ald. Donna Coates - PMayor Robin Wilt - PPublic Works Director Justin Griffith -P

Judy Elting presented a plan for a new cabinet to be made for the Dorothy Williams child sleigh that was donated to the historical society.

Council discussed and the following vote was taken.

Alderman Glisan made a motion to approve the plan:

Alderman Coates seconded the motion.

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Carol Holland presented the 5k backpack program run for August 24th. It will be the same route as last year and she submitted her liability insurance. Dan Cortelyou recognized that Carol is retiring at the end of the year.

Treasure Cortelyou presented the Budget for 2019-2020 and Ald. Lorton motioned to waive the second reading. Ald. M Howell seconded the motion.

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

The Budget was discussed and Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the Budget. Ald. C Howell seconded the motion.

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which include the following items;

1. Approval of May 6, 2019 Minutes

2. Approval of April 2019 Financial Report

It was seconded by Ald. C Howell. A roll call vote was taken and the results of that vote are as follows:

Ad Hoc (Mayor’s Report)

1. Mayor Wilt met with staff member Lester Davis from Representative La Hood’s office at the

City hall on May 8th. There were a number of people that stopped by to see Mr. Davis.

2. Mayor Wilt attended a MAEDCO meeting on May 14th. 3. Mayor Wilt attended the Chamber after Hours @ Tellers on May 13th. They discussed some of the services that are available in Bushnell.

5. Mayor Wilt met with an individual interested in bringing optometrist business to Bushnell in 2020.

6. Mayor Wilt commented that school is out this week. There will be remodeling done to the LeRoy Crum wing.

7. Mayor Wilt welcomed the Jeep Blitz coming to town May 23 – 26.

8. Mayor Wilt announced Memorial Day Services are Monday May 27th at 11:00 a.m.

9. Mayor Wilt announced the Swimming Pool will be opening on June 1st.

10. Mayor Wilt commented that the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Core will have open

Rehearsals on 5/30. Performance @ 8:00 p.m. on June 7th at Hanson Field.

11. Mayor Wilt announced that she is interested in Home based business in Bushnell and would like to promote them.

12. Mayor Wilt commented that we are still in need of another Alderman for Ward 4. Personnel/Finance/Budget

1. Ald. Norton advised at the next meeting they will have increases for non bargaining unit.

Public Works –Street/Sewer/Alley

1. The committee purposes that a $500 gas credit be given to the owners of the property At 440 W. Barnes for the miscommunication of the proper procedures after utilites were turned on.

Ald. C Howell made a motion to approve the gas credit and Ald. Lorton seconded it. A roll call vote was taken and the results of that vote are as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

2. Christen Osborne owner of Wildest Dreams Boutique requested that the 400 block of East Main be blocked off July 26th from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. for a craft show and hopefully a car show. It will not interfere with business on that block.

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the street being blocked off and Ald. M Howell seconded it.

3. They had a mock emergency drill with the Fire Department and the Gas/Elec personnel On Tuesday May 14th.

4. They want Jeff Rench the ESDA Supervisor to advertise the emergency services information line, which is available for sign up on the Discover Bushnell web page.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

1. Police committee sent the agreement for the future Resource officer to the School’s Attorney.

2. Next meeting June 10, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. & 3:30 ESDA

Parks/Recreation

1. Justin Griffith and Ald. Glisan are to meet with Work Force at the June meeting to find

Another candidate for the cleaning position at the YMCA.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

Motion was made by Ald. Lorton to approve the resolution 2019-2, which states the city council supports the application of CBDG noncompetitive grant through WIRC. Ald.Coates seconded it. A roll call vote was taken and the results of that vote are as follows:
