City of Greenville issued the following announcement on July 31.
The Greenville City Manager, Dave Willey, is pleased to announce that Scott Workman has accepted the position of Chief of Police for the City of Greenville. Chief Workman is an experienced law enforcement professional who is ready and able to guide the Greenville Police Department into the future.
Chief Workman began his police career as a Deputy Sheriff in the Bond County Sheriff’s Department in 1992. He moved to the Greenville Police Department December 1, 1994 as a Patrolman. During his 25 years on the Greenville force he has served as Deputy Commander on the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, a Deputized Special Federal Officer, a Computer Forensic Specialist, a Department Investigator, and other assignments. Scott has also served as the Chief of Police in the Village of Pierron, as the Police Pension Board President and as the owner of Workman Communications. Scott has been Sergeant for the Greenville Police Department since December 9, 2012.
We are pleased to have Scott as our Chief of Police and look forward to working with him in this new capacity. His long service, advanced skills, and strong leadership will carry the Greenville Police Department forward with great potential for future development.
