3. OLD BUSINESS
• Brochure
Eddie presented the completed JCDHR brochure to the Commission. Members circulated copies to be distributed at local service agency's.
• Sidewalk
Alan discussed he and Nancy's findings and recommendations regarding the Lincoln Avenue and Morton Street sidewalk. It was determined by the City to be too costly to construct a sidewalk at the southwest corner of Lincoln at Morton but they were open to suggestions. As an option, Alan and Mary suggested that the council present a proposal to the City to provide new flashing crosswalk signage and new painted crosswalks at the intersections of Wall Street and Superior on Lincoln Avenue. After discussion the Commission agreed with Alan and Mary's findings with the addition of curb cut outs at the intersection sidewalks on Lincoln at Superior. If these intersections can be updated, there will be no need for any changes to the crosswalk that is behind Midland Farm and Home and runs adjacent to Cody Buchanan Funeral Home. It was also suggested by Guy that there be signage at the south west intersection of Morton and Lincoln to notify pedestrians that the sidewalk for south bound foot traffic can be accessed by crossing to the east side of Lincoln.
Motion: To present to the Mayor that crossings be established at the intersections of Wall Street at Lincoln and Superior at Lincoln that are updated with new crosswalk painting and flashing pedestrian crossing signs. In addition the Commission would recommend adding curb cut outs to the intersection sidewalks on Lincoln at Wall Street. And if possible the addition of a sign at the south west intersection of Morton and Lincoln to notify pedestrians that the sidewalk for south bound traffic can be accessed by crossing to the east side of Lincoln.

4. NEW BUSINESS
• Damon Wheeler
Damon is doing an internship for MacMurray College at Jacksonville Center for Independent Living. As part of his internship he is required to complete a disability awareness project. He noted during a recent restaurant visit that a blind patron had to have the menu read to her in a loud and crowded environment. He recognized a need for a braille menu in order to accommodate the needs of the visually handicapped community. During early development of his project he visited several local restaurants and found only one offers a braille menu.
Commission members made suggestions that may assist Damon with his project and thanked him for his attention to this issue. Damon will return and present his completed project to the Commission.
