MCDONOUGH DISTRICT HOSPITAL: MDH Updates CPR Class Schedule and Offers Online Check-Offs

McDonough District Hospital issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.

McDonough District Hospital will now offer triannual CPR Classes as well as individual check-off sessions for those who have completed qualifying courses online through The American Heart Association.

Upcoming classes are scheduled for September 10, February 11, and May 5 at 6 p.m. in Auditoriums A & B and Auxiliary conference room (lower level) at MDH. Employers or organizations with groups of 10 or more can call to schedule private CPR classes at their convenience.

Individuals also have the option to complete the following courses at www.elearning.heart.org:

•BLS CPR

•Heartsaver CPR AED

•Heartsaver First Aid

Once participants have received a certificate of completion from an online course, they can contact MDH Outreach Services staff directly to schedule a one-on-one skills check off; the fee is $30.

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a life-saving technique to be used if someone would choke, stop breathing, or experience cardiac arrest. This class offers Adult, Child, and Infant techniques for CPR and obstructed airway. Instruction for the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) will also be covered.

MDH Community CPR classes are taught according to the American Heart Association guidelines. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, anyone having special needs should give advance notice when registering for the class. Pre-registration and a $50 fee are required.
