City of Albion City Council met Aug. 5.

The Albion City Council met for a special council session on Aug 5, 2019 6:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor Kim Dostal called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council Members Present – Pat Hemming, Eric Eirikson, Eric Schmidt, Jordan Hinkle and vacant seat.
Hemming motioned to approve the agenda striking motion #7 from the agenda Schmidt seconded. Motion passed 4-0
Mayor Pro-tem read the Oath of office and was sworn in as Mayor Pro-tem.
Jacob Dudley read the Oath of Office and was sworn in as councilman.
A motion by Hemming and seconded by Schmidt for the clerk to write a check for the purchase of a used plow truck before August 19, 2019 council meeting. Motion passed 5-0
A motion by Schmidt and seconded by Eirikson to approve HMA patching, overlay, and widening up to $48,000.00. Motion passed 5-0
Schmidt moved to vote no to the amended lease agreement with MD7 (T-Mobile) Eirikson seconded. Motion for a NO vote passed 4-1. Hinkle abstaining for lack of information regarding the agreement.
A motion by Hemming and seconded by Schmidt for the changing of election terms from 2 to 4 year terms and from concurrent to staggering terms. Motion passed 5-0
A motion by Schmidt and seconded by Eirikson to have 1st reading of City Ordinance Chapter 122 – Peddlers, Solicitors, & Transient Merchants. It was motioned to approve the changing of the charges from $10 daily to $20 daily, $25 weekly to $30 weekly, and to omit a monthly charge. Motion passed 4-1. Hemming voting to abstain.
A motion by Schmidt and seconded by Eirikson to approve to add a sign “End of City Maintenance” at corner of Lafayette and Meyer Ave and to have 1st reading of Ordinance at 8/19/19 meeting. Motion passed 4-1. Hemming voting no.
Schmidt motioned and Hinkle seconded to adjourn. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:13pm.
