City of Barry City Council met Sept. 3.

Mayor Rennecker called the regular monthly meeting of the Barry City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. All elected officials were present. He then led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lance Kendrick made a motion to approve the minutes from the August meeting and Bruce Kendall seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.
Bob Dieker made a motion to approve payment of the bills and Steve Schultz seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.
Parks and Recreation Committee met on August 13, 2019 with the following present: Robert Snyder, Bruce Kendall, Marynel Corton and Sarah Rogers. Bruce Kendall gave the committee’s report. The total revenue was up this year from last year. He said that Robert told of repairs that need to be done at pool. These include new circulating pump, pool filters with sand, a couple small leaks, new ph pump, shower head in girl’s restroom and a new pool vacuum hose. Bruce said that Robert also talked about putting in the water to the slide with a meter and installing the new shades. They also hope to get the new scoreboard installed at Mountain Dew Ball Park. Pool manager Sarah Rogers suggested that the assistant managers for next year be paid on an hourly basis instead of salary. She said she knows of only three guards that will be back next year and Sarah volunteered to re-write the pool handbook and will present her ideas at the next park a7 recreation meeting. She also suggested purchasing 5-6 new deck chairs and some box or oscillating fans. She would also like to see an increase in private lessons and more pool parties. Steve Schultz made a motion to accept the report and proceed to get prices and Lance Kendrick seconded motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.
The City had a donation request for Barry Apple Festival Queen Contest. Steve Schultz made a motion to approve the $200 donation and Lance Kendrick seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.
Jeff Hogge gave the City Administrators report. He said they took down barricades on Rodgers Street and met with Mark Patterson of JIREH about water situation in his parking lot. The water is coming down ditch into parking lot and trying to get retention wall built. The city crew had been doing tree trimming on the parade route. Fall clean-up will be September 16th thru 22nd from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attended code court and several other meetings.
Mayor Rennecker discussed the membership due with Pike County Economic Development Corporation. The dues are $1318.00 a year. Steve Schultz made a motion to approve the dues for membership and Bruce Kendall seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.
Council discussed the ordinance limiting the number of dogs and cats in the city. Bob Dieker asked who is going to count them. Jeff Hogge said if you have cats they need to be vaccinated. This is tabled to next month.
Council discussed the ordinance on zoning change for parcel # 46-027-07E and parcel # 46-027-07C from I-1 to B-2. Lance Kendrick made a motion to approve the zoning ordinance and Steve Schultz seconded the motion. Roll call taken:

Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent to approve the zoning ordinance. Bob Dieker said he understood that the Apple Dumpling Inn has done some improvements and had to get three licenses for food handlers at $150.00 each. Steve Schultz made a motion to pay $150 to cover expense of 1 license and Bob Dieker seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent.
Lance Kendrick made a motion to adjourn and Bob Dieker seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 8:48 p.m.
