City of Jacksonville Commission on Disabilities and Human Relations met October 3

City of Jacksonville Commission on Disabilities and Human Relations met Oct. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

1. WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER 4:09 PM

There are not enough commission members present to have a quorum therefore no action items can be voted on.

2. OLD BUSINESS

• Sidewalk

Allan reports that the city has completed work on the crosswalks on Lincoln Ave. Allan will draft a letter thanking Mayor Ezard for his timely response to this public safety concern.

• Survey

Work on the new survey continues. Translating the survey to French and Spanish is proving to be a challenge in the early development. Guy will reach out to Dr Matt for an update on the progress of the survey and offer assistance from the Commission.

• Member Status

Mary has requested another term with the Commission. Joan has indicated that she does not wish to be reappointed to the Commission. Salina will need to step down from her position due to life issues. A letter will be forwarded accepting the members decisions.

• Beecher High Rise water bill increase

Alan spoke with Brandon West after consulting with the Mayor, Sally with the Water Department and Debra Walters, Morgan County Housing Authority. The water bill increase is due to a policy change with the Morgan County Housing Authority. It was recommended that Brandon take his concerns to the Housing Authority Board.

3. MISCELLANEOUS

• Next meeting date: November 7th, 2019
