McDonough County Human Resources and Planning Committee met Feb. 18.

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd floor Law Library. Committee Members in attendance included Committee Chair Letha Clark, Vice Chair Mike Cox, Larry Aurelio, Michael Kirby, Terra Litchfield, Deckle McLean and Dave Nissen. Others in attendance included Karen Blakely, Eric Blakely, Patrick Stout, County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes, County Assistant Jana Walker.
Chair Letha Clark called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Review & Approval of January 9, 2020 Minutes
Vice Chair Cox moved, with a second by Member Aurelio, to approve the January 9, 2020 minutes. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Animal Control Report
Committee Chair Clark reported. 7 dogs were picked up, 11 reclaimed, 9 adopted and 0 sent to rescue. At the beginning of January there were 18 dogs and 20 at the end of January. Cats 15 dropped off/released, 1 reclaimed, 16 adopted and 1 euthanized. At the beginning of January population at 33 and the end of the month population at 48.
Policies & Procedures
Dr. Blakely said everything with the Shelter and Humane Society is great. Chair Clark explained Kirsta, the Animal Control Officer, resigned due to not finding child care. Dr. Blakely asked about the positions in the paper for the Shelter, ad will run through tomorrow for two full time positions at the Shelter. Court case was continued again today, Dr. Blakely said that their attorney wasn’t ready. Committee Chair Clark said that they did move the birds from the front of the Shelter to the back which made a great improvement. They will have the birds until the case is resolved.
The washer that was purchased maybe two years ago is in need of repair, the repair was estimated over $900, the board went out of it. Member Aurelio and Committee Chair Clark talked with Allen Sheffler, and they are on the list for the shelter that goes out over the dog runs, it will be taken care of in warm weather. They talked about tarps for temporary. Policies and procedures Clark took to Matt and she had a copy for Gayle and the original and to take to the City attorney, just to go over and if there is feedback if we need to make changes to that. States Attorney Kwacala is going to go over and let them know if there is anything they need or don’t need in it.

Member McLean moved, seconded by Member Litchfield, to approve claims as submitted. Motion carried on voice vote.

County Chair Schwerer told the Committee that Matt Martin from the Wind Farm would be attending Board tomorrow evening with an update on progress.

Member Aurelio moved, with a second by Vice Chair Cox, that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried on a voice vote. With no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
