Illini West High School District #307 Board of Education met March 18.

1) The Regular Meeting of the Illini West High School District 307 of Hancock, McDonough, and Henderson Counties, IL was called to order at 7:00 PM

4) Motion by Sutton, seconded by Shannon Pence to approve Minutes of the
Special Meeting of February 26, 2020 and the Regular Meeting of February 19, 2020. Roll Call: Anders/yes, B Pence/yes, Wilde-Tillman/yes, Sutton/yes, Wujek/yes, Huston/yes, S Pence/yes. Motion carried.
5) Motion by Sutton, seconded by Wilde-Tillman to approve the bills as presented. Roll Call: S Pence/yes, B Pence/yes, Huston/yes, Anders/yes, Wujek/yes, Sutton/yes, Wilde-Tillman/yes. Motion carried.

7) Public Comment – Tom Hartzell Thanked Mrs. Schilson for her professionalism, being polite and courteous.

a. Principal Report was reviewed
b. Superintendent Report
i. IW will receive the $50,000 matching funds for Maintenance Project Grant from the State. Total project cost is estimated at $220,000 with CESD paying $110,000, IW $60,000 and IW’s school maintenance grant covering $50,000.
ii. Strong fund balances, lower in education fund as IW is over staffed. This will balance out with retirees.
10) Discussion/Action
a. Coronavirus Preparation – Unsure where it’s headed, started Google Classroom preparation but because of the virus things changed. March 3, 2020 the Governor announce the school closure. Updating letter on the website. Further guidance coming daily. Complete closed down except for a few essential staff. Mrs. Schilson will be here daily. IW has provided laptops to kids who need them. Concerns for SPED kids and those without internet.
b. Handbook Changes – Jim Short reviewed the changes. The Student Handbook will be on the agenda next month for approval.
c. Building Referendum – Holly Wilde-Tillman requested we removed this from the consent agenda.
11) Motion by Sutton, seconded by B Pence to leave regular session for the purpose of entering Executive Session at 7:22 PM to discuss:
a. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees for the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)

ii. Resignation
1. Motions by B Pence, seconded by Anders (by phone) to confirm the resignation of Dale Schamberger as an Illini West Bus Driver. Roll call: Wujek/yes, Wilde- Tillman/yes, Huston/yes, Anders/yes, S Pence/yes, Sutton/yes, B Pence/ yes. Motion carried.
