City of Beardstown issued the following announcement on Aug. 1.
#Breaking Nearly 2,000 new cases reported today. It's time to take Covid-19 serious and wear the mask!
11 Counties are now at warning level for Covid-19. Those are Cass, Gallatin, Jackson, Jo Daviess, Johnson, Perry, Randolph, Sangamon, Saline, St Clair and White.
8 out the 11 warning counties are in southern Illinois. About 40 counties have over 50 NEW CASES per 100k people and numerous have over 6% positivity rates.
All regions of Illinois are seeing increasing positivity rates.
This is a warning sign. Cases are rising again, nearing 2k. Deaths are lower, but this is due to younger people having the virus and deaths take 2-4 weeks to accumulate.
200-300 people are dying a day in Texas and Florida currently and if we don't take action now; then we'll see these numbers.
Wear a mask, practice social distancing and have good hygiene. Local/regional closures are likely nearing. If we want to keep small businesses open, please start taking this serious.
Yes, we're using strong wording. The warning signs are here that we could begin to surge soon.
Overall hospitalizations are stable still, but we suspect we'll see an increase if these numbers continue.
