59 percent of applicants to Western Illinois University were admitted for fall 2018

At Western Illinois University, 86 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 52 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Macomb enrolled 8,502 students in fall 2018, including 6,754 in undergraduate and 1,748 in graduate programs, data shows. 11.4 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

90 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 9 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (59 percent) and Black or African American (21 percent).

The school admitted 59 percent of the 9,151 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 17 percent enrolled.
