Cost of college went up for all students at Western Illinois University

Tuition and fees rose 0.4 percent for 2018-19 at Western Illinois University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $12,951 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $54 more than the $12,897 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,042 students received grants or scholarships totaling $10.2 million and 911 students took out student loans totaling more than $6.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (8,502), 6,185 students used grants or scholarships totaling $53.3 million, and 5,180 students took out $39.2 million in federal student loans.
