The special meeting of the Carthage E.S.D. #317 Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Board President Brent Ufkes.

Roll call: Luke Burling/present; Robert Menn/present; Andrea Jones/present; Brandon Gooding/present; Trish Markley/absent; Amy Graham present; Brent Ufkes/present.
Public Comment: Alison DeSotel, Patsy Davis and Ada Bair spoke regarding school opening.
Proposal by Mr. Butcher:
1. Delay the start of school from August 17, 2020 to August 24, 2020
2. Schedule Remote Learning Planning Days for the week of August 17 to August 21
3. Keep TI days of August 13 and 14 the same
4. Start full remote learning on August 24, 2020 with special board meetings September 2nd and September 16th
5. Re-evaluate the situation at the September 23, 2020 board meeting with the possibility of returning to school in person on September 28, 2020
Thumbs vote: Mr. Burling/thumbs up; Mr. Menn/thumbs up; Mrs. Jones/thumbs up; Mr. Gooding/ thumbs up; Mrs. Markley/absent; Mrs. Graham/thumbs up; Mr. Ufkes/horizontal thumb.
It was moved by Mrs. Graham and seconded by Mrs. Jones to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m. Roll Call: Mr. Burling/yes; Mr. Menn/yes; Mrs. Jones/yes; Mr. Gooding/yes: Mrs. Markley/absent; Mrs. Graham/yes; Mr. Ufkes/yes. Motion carried 6-0.
