Democratic Candidate Angel Smith lost her bid for District 91 House seat to Republican incumbent Randy Frese.
Smith conceded in a post on her Facebook page.
“I’m not the only Democratic candidate who chose to run in a race knowing that I would probably lose,” she wrote. “A lot of other people did it too, and we did it because of our heartfelt commitment to democracy and our communities.”
Smith went on to thank her supporters for voting for her and vowed to run again.
“We will keep this fire burning! Thank you to every Democrat who ran for office, to every volunteer, and every voter who chose hope over cynicism” she wrote. “I deeply appreciate you, and you are why I have so much optimism about our future. And oh yeah - I will be running again. Thank you!”
