City of Jacksonville Commission on Disabilities and Human Relations met Oct. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Present: Alan Bradish (Chairman), Mary Watts (Vice Chair), Guy Crumley - Phone, Ruth Linear, Colton Pettyjohn, Nancy Harper - Phone

Absent: Jaime Filo-Cruz, Ralph Hastie, Eddie Lowe (Secretary)

Guests: Ted Huber

• WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER 4:05 PM

• APPROVAL OF MINUTES

o A motion was made by Colton Pettyjohn to accept the minutes as presented and seconded by Ruth Linear, and it passed unanimously.

• PUBLIC COMMENT

o Ted Huber stated he was unable to reach City Hall by phone. Alan Bradish gave him a working number.

• OLD BUSINESS

Act on Larry Whewell’s resignation

o A motion was made by Guy Crumly to accept Larry Whewell's resignation and seconded by Colton Pettyjohn, and it passed unanimously.

o A motion was made by Mary Watts to add Larry Whewell as a Friend of the Commission and seconded by Nancy Harper, and it passed unanimously.

• NEW BUSINESS

Completion of Open Meetings Act Online training prior to November meeting (Present copy of certificate to Commission Secretary)

o Alan Bradish announced this training had to be completed by everyone on the commission and the certificate had to be submitted to the Chairman.

o Follow up discussion re: last month’s presentation with Police Chief Mefford

 The Commission continued the discussion of equal job opportunities and ways to ensure all are given an opportunity for employment.

o Continuation of Commission members whose terms expire October 30, 2020

 Expiring terms - Guy Crumly and Eddie Lowe. Both agree to continue as members of the Commission. Ralph Hastie will not be continuing as a member of the Commission.

• MISCELLANEOUS

o Next meeting date: November 5th, 2020

• ADJOURNEMNT

o A motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:00pm was made by Colton Pettyjohn and seconded by Mary Watts, and passes unanimously
