City of Bushnell City Council met Aug. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Roll Call

Treasurer

*Treasurer Cortelyou stated that our numbers weren’t too far off from last year, and that we should start doing some of the repair projects that we’ve been holding off on.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda, which included the following items:

1. Approval of Minutes from July 20, 2020

2. Approve June 2020 Financial Report

2. Accept & Approve July 2020 bills.

Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad Hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Wilt stated that she had been contacted by the YMCA about maybe offering a Childcare program for when school started. They have put out a parent survey to find Out if there is any interest in the program. Mayor Wilt referred it to Ald. Coates’ committee to look into.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Nothing to report

Public Works-Street/Sewer/Alley

*Minutes from July 23, 2020 meeting

*Ald. C Howell stated that Eric Moe with IMEG presented a proposal for the #4 deep well CDBG Bidding & construction engineering services. The amount is for $49,000. This does not include bidding the electrical work. The committee would like to recommend the acceptance of IMEG’s proposal for bidding & construction engineering services of the #4 deep well project.

Ald. C Howell made a motion to accept IMEG’s proposal for bidding & construction engineering services of the #4 deep well project for $49,000. Ald. Lorton seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken With the results as follows:

Ald. M Howell “aye”        Ald. Lorton “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye”            Ald. Glisan “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

*Ald. C Howell also stated that the committee discussed the burning at the yard waste site. They had received a letter from the ILEPA stating that we did not need a

Permit for open burning of yard waste per general assembly code 415 ILCS 5/9(a) (2018).

They also discussed the hours of operation. The council discussed this and decided on Hrs. Thursday – Monday from dawn to dusk. This information will be sent to the City Attorney to amend the ordinance.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Activity report for July.

*Next meeting will be August 17 th , @ 4:00 at the complex.

*ESDA director Jeff Rench stated we will have training on the Everbridge system at 3:00 on Monday August 10 at the City Hall.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Ald. Coates was contacted by Curt Rigg asking if the FFA could have use of the West Park for the Annual FFA show & sale on August 29th. The council agreed with a general consensus.

Engineering

*Eric Moe from IMEG stated that D&L Excavating was almost done with their work on The sanitary sewer and would like for the pay estimate 2 to be approved for $254,324.70.

This is falls within the bid that we have.

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the pay estimate 2 for D&L Excavation for $254,324.70. Ald. Allen seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

*Moe stated that we are planning to advertise for bids on August 20 for the Deep Well Project. Open bids on September 17 and award bids on September 21.

Contracts

*Next meeting August 6, 2020 @ 3:00 at the City Hall to discuss Pest Control.

*Ald. Glisan stated that Area Disposal is trying to get the word out for people to Get signed up for recycling.

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.
