The McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee discussed an update on a bridge project scheduled for this year.
The project, which began construction of five bridges is 2018, is nearing an end, according to a press release from the committee. What started as a five-bridge project eliminated one bridge, then later added another bridge to the project. Two of the bridges have been completed.
Engineer Rick Walker said the committee should approve grindstone work on Bridge Structure 3030. But if this is the course of action, the bridge wouldn't be completed until 2022.
Others in attendance at the meeting included Chair Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, George Dixon, Ken Durkin, Craig Foster, Rod McGrew, Marcia Twaddle, Dave Cadwalader, Patrick Stout, County Chair Scott Schwerer and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes. Vice Chair Dick Marcott was absent.
