City of Dallas City City Council Met Dec. 23.

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Harold Northup Jr. and Greg Olson. Lila Gittings and Carole McDowell were absent.
Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Chris Classen, and Gary Smith.
A motion was made by Olson, and 2nd by Northup to accept the minutes of the December 9, 2020, meeting. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. Gittings and McDowell ABSENT.
Chris Classen reported that he has been working on getting the sewer pumps rebuilt. One pump needs at least a new compressor. The price for a new compressor is $591, and the price for a complete new pump is $900. However, he would like for the council to consider purchasing a two stage pump if they decide to purchase a new one. The council asked him to get the price for a two stage pump and then discuss it more at the next meeting. He also reported that two minor water leaks have been repaired.
Anne Thompson discussed the city attorney not being at many meetings lately. She also discussed the old high school building and the buildings on Oak Street that are falling in.
Police Chief Gary Smith reported on the departments work schedule during the upcoming holidays. He ordered flags and flagpoles for the city hall. The flagpoles and the U.S. flag have arrived, and the Illinois flag has been shipped.
Mayor Six reported that he has been notified by FEMA that the buyout option for certain properties along the river is being considered again. He is working on the necessary paperwork.
Commissioner Olson discussed paying employees, including the mayor and commissioners, for time missed and meetings missed due to COVID-19.
Discussed getting a light installed for the flag outside of the city hall.
A motion was made by Northup, and 2nd by Olson to adjourn the meeting. Northup, Olson, and Six AYE. Gittings and McDowell ABSENT.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:34 p.m.
