City of Pittsfield City Council Met Jan. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the Meeting Room of the Fire Department at 122 Jefferson Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Ann Moffit, Aldermen Bill Grimsley, Kevin Ketchum, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson, and Kevin Wombles.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of the December 05, 2020 Council meeting. Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Lennon, White, Wilson, Wood (6)

Nay: None (0)

Present: Ritchart, Wombles(2)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to accept the Zoning Committee’s recommendation to approve the Special Use Permit for Paytan Stetch, tenant of #8 East Industrial Park Drive to operate a beauty/barber shop on said property.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to accept the Finance Committee’s recommendation to deny the request to reduce or prorate the Liquor License due to a state mandated shut-down in 2020 as a result of COVID 19 restrictions.

Alderman White seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve Pay Request #2 for Petty Construction, LLC in the amount of $10,070.28 for the Serenity Day Sap Foundation Wall Improvement Project.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Special Use – Communication Station – Tabled

Alderman Wood moved to table the matter of an Amendment to Ordinance for trailer for caretaker or maintenance residence, for additional information on the location and trailer to be used.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the Agreement Regarding Dispatch Services to the City of Pittsfield Police Department with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.

Alderman Wombles seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to continue to compensate employees, without the use of sick leave or vacation days, while under a doctor, health department or City mandated quarantine due to COVID 19 through June 2021.

Alderman Wombles seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the Clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Mayor Hayden stated that trees, due to storm damage, will continue to be picked up by the Street and Alley Department for the next few weeks.

Doug Strother has begun tuckpointing on the Serenity Day Spa exterior wall.

Mayor Hayden has received a preliminary estimate for the waste water project from MECO Engineering. Mayor asked Max Middendorf what the timeline for the project would be. Mr. Middendorf believes the project may be acceptable to be considered for SRF Funds and the next opportunity to apply for these funds is July and he will work with Ed Knight to apply.

Alderman Ritchart stated that the new stickers are available at City Hall for Neighborhood Vehicles and boats. The stickers are different colors and bright colors to be easily seen.

Ed Knight stated that the grant application has closed for the Sustainability Grant. We have distributed 10 grantsfor a total of approximately $47,000.00. Alderman Ritchart complemented Mr. Knight on working so closely with the businesses.

Alderwoman White moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:35 p.m.
