Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Adams) updated the public on recent events through her “Senate Week In Review.”

She briefly shared on social media that a new phase in Restore Illinois has been announced by the governor, redistricting discussions have commenced, and several bills have been filed.

Tracy started by saying that “Gov. J.B. Pritzker unveiled his plan March 18 for a ‘Bridge Phase’ before Illinois is allowed to reopen in Phase 5,” which was coined “Phase 4.5.” She emphasized that “Despite some of the strictest COVID-19 mitigations in the country, the state’s death toll remains higher than most other large states.” Tracy added that "while the Governor claims these new mitigation measures are based on science and data, he has not provided that specific data he is using, nor has he empowered local health officials to adapt the standards to best meet the needs of their communities."

Tracy listed two bills that were filed last week, Senate Bill 1615 which would “provide additional assistance to struggling businesses,” and Senate Bill 500 bill which would “protect against organ donation discrimination.”

“Also during the week, both chambers of the General Assembly began the process of holding hearings on the once-a-decade redistricting process, but so far there has not been any movement on a shift to a non-partisan, independent commission process,” she added.

Tracy is a member of the Redistricting Committee for West Central Illinois, aside from many other committees she is assigned to. She is also the Republican Spokesperson for the Senate Judiciary Committee and for the Senate Environment and Conservation Committee.
