City of Pittsfield City Council met Feb. 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the Meeting Room of the Fire Department at 122 Jefferson Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Ann Moffit, Aldermen Bill Grimsley, Kevin Ketchum, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson, Kevin Wombles, and Robert Wood.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2021 Council meeting. Alderman White seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Lennon, Ritchart, Wombles, White, Wilson, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0)

Present: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to accept the Zoning Committee’s recommendation to approve the variance request of Derald Ray and Marsha Kelley.

Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Nay: None (0)

Alderman Grimsley stated that the Street and Alley Committee met today and have narrowed down 3 areas in town that they would like to prioritize street repairs. The committee will contact Max Middendorf with MECO Engineering and request estimates for each area.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve Ordinance No. 1672, An Ordinance amending Code Section 156 Special Uses of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois on its first reading. Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to suspend the rules and have the second reading of Ordinance No. 1672 as stated above.

Alderman Wombles seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve Ordinance No. 1672, An Ordinance amending Code Section 156 Special Uses of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, on its second reading. Alderman Lennon seconded the motion.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve paying bill as stated by City Clerk.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Mayor Hayden stated that there is a Water/Wastewater committee meeting tomorrow morning at 8 am. The Street and Alley department has started pothole repairs today and will continue as weather permits.

Alderman Ketchum informed the council that the Trout Fishing event would be in approximately 2 months. He is unsure of the details due to COVID19 but would like the Alderman to be considering their position.

Max Middendorf stated that MECO Engineering has a new engineer, Kevin Garnet, working in the Pittsfield Office.

Chief Starman has an anonymous donor that will make a $7,000 donation for the mandated body cameras that is anticipated in the near future. The same donor has also made a sizable donation to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department as well.

Alderman Ritchart noted that the Park Board has not been in contact with the donor who offered to place mats under the swings.

Alderwoman White moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:16 p.m.
